Public holidays and leave

Understand what each input means before using the result for planning.

Leave days depend on the working week, gazetted public holidays, observed days and the employer’s roster—not just the difference between two dates.

How the rule works

QuickCalc assumes Monday to Friday and removes MOM-published 2026/2027 public holidays. Rest-day compensation and Sunday substitution must be understood with the Employment Act and the actual work arrangement.

Calculation method

Leave required = default weekdays in the inclusive date range − public holidays falling on those weekdays.

Three practical examples

  1. Monday to Friday normally uses five leave days.
  2. 21–27 Dec 2026 uses four leave days after the weekend and Christmas Day are removed.
  3. A shift worker who normally works Saturday may be undercounted by the default model.

Special cases and limits

  • Shift work, six-day weeks and company holidays need manual adjustment.
  • Half-days, time zones, unpaid leave and time off in lieu are excluded.
  • Working on a public holiday may lead to pay or time-off arrangements outside this count.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when a holiday falls on Sunday?

The next working day is commonly the paid holiday, subject to MOM rules and the work schedule.
